How to Recognize Fake Profiles
Most fake accounts follow the same handful of patterns. Learn the signals and what to do when you spot them.

Signals in the profile
- Very few photos, all professionally styled or all from the same shoot
- Vague biography that could describe anyone
- Details that contradict each other between sections
- Images that appear elsewhere online under a different name
Signals in the conversation
- Intense affection within days, before you have really met
- A story that quickly becomes a crisis
- Pressure to move to another app or to a private email
- Deflection when you suggest a video call
- Any mention of money, investments, gift cards or "helping out temporarily"
The single strongest test
Suggest a short video call. Genuine members may be shy; scripted accounts almost always refuse, repeatedly, with escalating excuses.
What to do
Do not confront and do not send money. Stop replying, then use Report on their profile or in the conversation and choose the closest reason. Blocking removes them from your experience immediately.
No legitimate connection will ever require a financial transfer.
